The sci-fi Korean drama Parasyte: The Grey season 1 premiered with six episodes on Netflix last week and the fans are already wondering if there will be a season 2. Depicting the same invasion by alien creatures called parasites as the original manga — Parasyte, written by Hitoshi Iwaaki — the Netflix series changes location from Japan to South Korea.
Officially, Netflix has not made any announcement about the renewal. However, considering how the show ended, it wouldn’t be wrong to expect a season 2 of Parasyte: The Grey.

Season 1 of the K-drama sees Jeong Su-In (Jeon So-Nee) who has a connection with detective Kim Chul-Min (Kwon Hae-Hyo) due to an adverse event in her childhood. She finds herself infected by a parasite but it fails to completely take over her body, ending up in a Dr Jekyll and Hyde kind of situation. On the other hand, Seol Kang-Woo (Koo Kyo-Hwan), a small-time crook, finds out his older sister has been taken over by a parasite and his younger sister killed by one.
Both Su-In and Kang-Woo end up paired together to save the small town of Nam Il-gun from the leader of the parasites, the pastor. Together they help Choi Jun-Kyung (Lee Jung-hyun), the leader of Team Grey put together to kill the parasites across South Korea and succeed in their mission.
Episode six of season 1 ends with a cameo appearance by Shinichi Izumi, portrayed by Masaki Suda. Shinichi is the protagonist in the manga, Parasyte, and the anime version of Parasyte: The Maxim. This major last-minute live-action appearance by Shinichi leaves us wondering whether this was just a call back to the OG manga or is he set to join Team Grey in Parasyte: The Grey season 2 which we can’t wait for.
